11, or to be more accurate ‘Number 11’, is a Cantonese slang phrase that means walking on two feet.

Flâneur 11 is about my experience of walking across the city.

​

In spring 2012 I quit my depressing job, and started an even more depressed life as the unemployed. The idea of walking from one side of Hong Kong to other was provoked by this discouraging period when I was job searching. One day, after spending several days at home sending out covering letters without receiving any response, I felt like I was about to explode. I decided to leave my room and my comfort zone. I randomly picked a place at the other side of the city, Yuen Long, to walk on foot. I recorded my walk and I pondered my ego through it. Eventually, I did 12 more walks in 7 cities.

The name of this random documentation is called Flâneur 11.

十一號， 廣東話香港俗語，步行的意思。

​

十一號，是一個關於用雙腿穿越城市的經驗。

​

二零一二年初， 我離開了的工作崗位 。隨之而來的，是漫長而糾結的失業日子。每天的生活，就是坐在電腦面前打著那些沒有結果的求職信。 一天晚上，開始發現自己已經受不住那種抑壓和無奈。我有一種「解釋不了的衝動」：我要離開這個房間；離開家住的一區。第二天醒來，便徒步從將軍澳到元朗去。就這樣，經過城市、深山、住宅、軍營、商業區、農地，一共十二個小時， 隨走，隨想。我把路程紀錄，把所見所聞所想收進心內。後來再走了十二段路，七個城市。

這個沒有計劃的計劃，名為十一號。
